Hello readers. Although I recently deleted last year's "Thankfulness" challenge, I will continue to touch on the subject of thankfulness periodically.
I'm currently enjoying the chatter and upbeat music of a local Starbucks. The weather is gorgeous, and I'm inspired by the still-new feeling of the New Year. Art and poetry are some forgotten hobbies I hope to strike up again in 2015. The "Beautiful Things" project is the first of hopefully many, featuring sketches of some of my friends using charcoal and colored pencils. We'll see how it goes!
I'm praying that you discover a new hobby or start up an old one again, something that makes you happy. I'm also praying that you spend some time in the Bible this afternoon, whether or not it's for the very first time. I've discovered a contentment that can only be found in the love of Jesus, a love that doesn't run out. I sang about it at church last night, and I thought my heart was going to burst with joy. It doesn't run out!! Where else can you find a love like that? I'm convinced it can't be found in any other person or place.
Happy Tuesday!
"This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life."
John 3:16, The Message Bible
"There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love's complete perfection], We love Him, because He first loved us."
1 John 4:18-19, Amplified Bible
"First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first." 1 John 4:19, The Message Bible
Blessed Life
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28, The Message Bible

Day 18
I am grateful for...
Cell phones. How did I ever get anywhere before I had my map app? And I don't think breakfast food ever looked fabulous before Instagram's filters. I love that thing. #awesome

Forgiveness
It's a tough topic. We've all got that hurt that no one seems to understand, created by someone that doesn't care. Family members, co-workers, boyfriends, girlfriends... Why is forgiving so hard? About six years ago I started listening to a preacher named Joseph Prince. His teaching on the grace of God made me realize that there's certain things we cannot do in our own strength. I believe forgiveness, often times, is one of those things.
I want to encourage you to ask God for His help, His grace today to forgive those who have done you wrong. Holding onto bitterness will keep you from moving forward in life. Jesus, who paid the price for all to be forgiven, can help you walk in forgiveness as well.

Day 17
Today I'm thankful for..
Second chances. Psalm 23 talks about forever being followed by God's mercy, and boy do I need it. There's no better feeling than knowing you've done something really stupid, messed up big time, only to find out you've been forgiven.

Day 16
Today I'm grateful for..
This may sound like a strange thing to appreciate, but I love opening my kitchen cabinet and reaching for one of my favorite mugs. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate.. whatever I choose, it's nice drinking it out of something I've obtained from a vacation or a Christmas gift, or wherever. I'm currently working on a collection of Starbucks mugs, their "You Are Here" series. California's is next on my list!

Day 15
Today I am thankful for...
God's promises. The devil will always try to convince us that the Bible is a lie, but that is not the case. I am uncertain about a lot of things in this world, but I am certain that God is faithful to fulfill whatever He has promised. The very foundation of my hope and peace is in the many things He has written to me. I am especially thankful for the one I read today, Isaiah 41:10 - God promises to be my help and my strength. <3

Day 14
Today I'm thankful for...
A reliable car. I did a lot of driving for work today, and I was grateful to be navigating through traffic in an air conditioned, safe, fairly new vehicle. Praise God!
